Alex Ross is a strong artist in my opinion because he takes these comic book heroes that people have idolized since children and betrays them in such a way that it almost feels as if they are real. The creator of super heroes himself, he poses them in such a way that that they feel more "super". The vivid colors give a sense of realism, but at the same time making them feel as if they aren't. 

  His contrast from the characters to the normally black background makes his images feel more 3 dimensional. it allows for him to work with a field such as "comic book heroes" and still give such a realistic feel to it.
